El Cajon seeks input on West Main plan
El Cajon is preparing a Caltrans grant application to beautify West Main Street at the entrance to downtown. The project will install a roundabout, road diet, construct separated bikeways, improved sidewalks, new lighting and landscaping. The community is invited to check out the road design and give input via a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ATPsurvey.
Community workshop on future park
La Mesa is holding its second community workshop on concept designs for the future Waite Drive Park. Join your neighbors at the workshop, 6 p.m. Wednesday at Helix Charter High School, 7323 University Ave., Room 1300, and also via Zoom. The workshop will provide an update on the results from the March 16, 2022 workshop and community input survey. Thrift shop sale benefits food bank
Santa Sophia’s St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Sale returns from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday with new and used treasures of all kinds for bargain-hunters. Summer concert series opens in La Mesa

Santee hosts summer music on Thursdays
The city of Santee is hosting free concerts from 6:30-8 p.m. every Thursday through Aug. 18 (except June 30) at Town Center Community Park East, 550 Park Center Drive. Performing this week is Upstream, with reggae, soca and Caribbean music. Coming up June 23: 8-Track Highway, with classic ‘70s and ‘80s Cali rock. Call (619) 258-4100.
Wedding wear featured at La Mesa Goodwill
The La Mesa Goodwill store spotlights wedding apparel at bargain rates with a special Wedding Event from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and June 19. Find bridal gowns, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride gowns, and flower girl dresses and accessories as well as event decorations. Many gowns are brand-name designer dresses with original tags still attached. Jewelry, shoes, gloves, bowties and tiaras will also be available. Goodwill uses the revenue generated from the sale of donated goods at its retail stores, outlet centers, and online store (shopgoodwill.com/sandiego) to fund free job training programs and employment services.
AAUW chapter installs new officers Saturday
The La Mesa-El Cajon branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Saturday in King Hall at the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4031 Avocado Blvd., La Mesa. Social activities will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the main business being the installation of new officers, including President-Elect Vicki Spilkin, who is taking over from Joan Camana. The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce hosts an open house/mixer for Plates, Tags & More, a business that provides DMV services, vehicle tags, mobile notary service and more.
