Planners approve mobile home park expansion | News, Sports, Jobs – timesobserver.com

The Warren County Planning Commission has approved an expansion to a mobile home park in Glade Township.
The request was made by Kylander Holdings regarding the Whispering Winds Trailer Park off Irvinedale Road.
County Planner Dan Glotz told the Commission the item was before them under the subdivision and land use ordinance, not the zoning ordinance.
He said the owner has met with the township and the new road to be developed would be maintained privately.
“Glade Township was fine with that,” Glotz said. “Everything meets the requirement of the ordinance.”
He called the projects “pretty much a relatively simple proposal.”
“It helps the municipality expand their capabilities and to a degree their tax base,” Commission chair Paul Pascuzzi said, and provides a “net 27 new places to live.”
The commission approved the project unanimously.
LIMESTONE EXPLORING ZONING
The county has a zoning ordinance but it does not cover the entire county.
Each municipality has to join and Glotz said his office has been working with Limestone Township officials about the possibility of becoming zoned.
Glotz said Zoning Officer Michael Lyon has been meeting with township officials and explained that the township will have to designate which zoning districts go where. Joining would then come to the Planning Commission for consideration and then to the county officials for final approval.
He said that would mean 14 municipalities are zoned under the county’s ordinance with the City of Warren and Youngsville handling zoning on their own.
Discussion centered on flood plain responsibilities as the reason the township is considering zoning. County zoning staff handle that for the zoned municipalities.
RECYCLING EVENTS UP IN THE AIR
Glotz said that the firm he has worked with to coordinate household hazardous waste recycling events has “shut down completely” and that he has not had much luck finding another firm to provide the service.
“(We) may be forced to cancel some or all,” he said, “Depending on whether or not I can find a company to come in.”
